Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In Loving Memory

Lawrence Levi (Lorn) Fisher

April 1, 1940 – September 27, 2024

Born in Stettler, Alberta. April 1st 1940 to Leland Ernest Fisher & Elizabeth Ann Fisher (Williams).

Lorn spent his childhood travelling through central BC as his Father worked for BC Power & they moved often, following the construction of the Power line. Lorn attended 22 different schools between 1946 & 1952.

In about 1952 the family returned to the farm North of Stettler. Dad, younger Brother Glen, & Younger Sister Wendy attended Waverly School. After his grade school education, Lorn joined the Army & began his automotive mechanic apprenticeship. While in the military he trained in Kingston Ontario, Wainwright Alberta, & Winnipeg Manitoba.

He met Teresa Kelly, the love of his life in Winnipeg & they were married in Stettler in 1962. Along the way came Terry, Tom, Alan & Laurence. Lorn & Teresa operated Fisher’s Auto Wreckers, sold Arctic Cat & Polaris Snowmobiles all while raising the family North of Stettler. Lorn worked at the Town of Stettler, Kal Tire, & operated Optimum Oilfield Service until his retirement in 2007.

Lorn volunteered with the local Legion, Air Cadets, Knights of Columbus, Social Services, & Big Brothers. He also spent time with his 4 Sons hunting, fishing & going to car shows.

As everyone knows, Lorn was a natural mechanic, loved machines of all kinds. In the last few years He really enjoyed driving his 1965 Chev Impala convertible. Even in his eighties he loved to mash the throttle on the fresh 383ci. Stroker & listen to the exhaust drowned out the sound of Teresa yelling from the passenger seat.

Over the years Dad was known by many names. To the Williams family he was “Lornie, to the Fisher family and friends he was “Fish” or “ Big Fish” but his favorite handle was “Papa Fish”

When thinking of Lorn’s Life, these are the words that come to mind;

COURAGE

FAITH

DETERMINATION (READ AS STUBBORNESS)

But most of all

LOVE

Lorn is survived by his loving wife Teresa; sons: Terry Fisher, Tom (Jody) Fisher, Alan (Trish) Fisher and Laurence (Juanita) Fisher; sister Wendy Fisher; sister-in-law Linda Fisher; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as

well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
