Lois Jean Garland

November 11, 1938 – September 8, 2024

 

Lois was born to Margareta and Bud Dimma in 1938 and grew up on a farm near Forestburg, Alberta and attended school in Forestburg.  She met the love of her life Bernard Garland at a dance, and they were married on April 3, 1959 where they farmed together north of Gadsby for 39 years before selling the farm and moving to Stettler in 1998.  Throughout her life she enjoyed camping, gardening, she sewed all of her own and Bernards clothing for the square dancing they both loved, she was the lead on her curling team and enjoyed bonspielling, snowmobiling, bowling, loved to get together with friends and family for visits and playing cards.  Enjoyed her travels to Nova Scotia, England and Yuma.

Lois leaves to mourn her passing: daughters Dawn (Berny) Benoit and Debora (Darren) Sutton; son Daryl Garland; six grandchildren: Curtis (Molly) Benoit, Morgan (Holly) Benoit, Andrea (Shawn) Benoit, Aaron (Holly) Benoit, Jeffrey (Danica) Sutton and Carson (Whitney) Sutton; nine great grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother Donnie (Peggy) Dimma; sisters Ann Foord and Wendy (Robert) Marcinkoski; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Rocky Biggelaar; sisters-in-law Fran Dimma and Maureen Hart; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends.

Lois was predeceased by husband Bernard Garland; parents Bud and Margareta Dimma; parents-in-law George and Millie Garland; great granddaughter Presley Sutton; brothers George Dimma, Bobby Dimma and Brian Dimma; sister Joyce Dimma and brother-in-law Al Foord.

A Private Family Service Will Be Held
